   Session 2

          Instructor talk:   Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson

          Weekly readings for class discussion:

                 1)   Chapter 1 "Mr. Sherlock Holmes" and Chapter 2 "The Science of Deduction"
                        from the novel A Study in Scarlet in which Holmes and Watson first meet
                        and Watson assesses Holmes.  (p. 3 - 20 = 17 pages) 

                 2)  "The Adventure of the Naval Treaty"


   Session 3

         Instructor talk:  Characters in the Holmes Stories 


        Weekly readings for class discussion:

               1)  "A Scandal in Bohemia" 

               2)   "Silver Blaze"

               3)   Meet Sherlock's older brother Mycroft in the "Greek Interpreter."
